Gordon Williams passed away on Veterans Day November 11, 2015 in St. George, Utah at the age of 99. Gordon was born in Kanarraville, Utah February 26, 1916 to Noel B. Williams and Samantha Ahlena Parker Williams, second to the oldest of 8 children.He learned to work hard at a young age helping his dad build several family homes, taking care of cattle and doing farming. He attended school through the 8th grade in Kanarraville. He attended High School at the Branch Normal College graduating in 1933 in Cedar City. He met and married Carel Prince August 15,1936. He drove truck for South Western Distributing Co, worked at Bradshaw Autoparts and retired from the Federal Aviation Agency in Cedar City in 1980. Gordon and Carel were blessed with 3 children: Carol Ann, Roger Gordon and Brenda Jean. Gordon served in 3 Military branches: the Navy, the Army Air Corp, and the Utah National Guard for 30 years. He was active in the LDS Church and served in many callings. Scout Master for 18 years, ward clerk, Bishops counselor, Sunday school and MIA teacher, a genealogy specialist, and he presided over the Cedar Breaks National Monument Sunday LDS services for many years. He did ordinance work in the St. George Temple for 16 years. His motto was: Enjoy your work and do a good job.Gordon enjoyed the outdoors: picnicking, fishing, hunting, camping and hiking and he loved to dance. After a long illness, Carel passed away in 2000. He married Lillie Parker in 2001.Gordon is survived by his sweet Lillie, son Roger Gordon (Barbara) Williams, daughter Brenda Jean (Dale) Roundy, sister Darlene Swain, step children Margret (Kent) Bringhurst, Don (Tish) Parker, sister-in-law Thais Williams and numerous extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, 1 sister, his first wife Carel and daughter Carol Ann.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N 300 W, Cedar City, UT). Viewing will be held 1 hour prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery (684 N Main) under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
