Mr. Thomas Howard Spivey, 81 of Newnan, died at his home Tuesday, September 25, 2001 after an extended illness.

Mr. Spivey was born to Andrew Jackson Spivey Sr. and Nancy Jane Thrower Spivey in Coweta County where he spent most of his life. He was a retired supervisor from Beaver Packing Company and a long time member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

As a veteran of World War II, Mr Spivey served more than 3 years in European Theatre under General George S. Patton, Third Army, Fifth Infantry Division as a heavy machine gun operator. He received several metals for exemplary service during the Normandy invasion and campaigns in Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, an avid fisherman, farmer, and carpenter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Wayne Spivey.

The funeral was held at Jones Chapel at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 with Joel Jones officating. Burial is at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia.
